I wanted so badly to participate in At the Well yesterday, but I had 2 sick men at home. Mike actually took off because he felt so badly. Daniel was sick too. So I was taking care of them. Please keep them in your prayers. Mike is going back to work tonight and feeling better. Daniel is feeling better, but coughs when he lays down. I hate seeing my baby sick. I pray everyone has a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we will! We aren't traveling to see families due to Mike working and Daniel under the weather. I'm going to cook us a small Thanksgiving dinner Thursday and try my hand at my first semi-home made apple pie. It's called the Incredibly easy French Apple Pie. It'll be my first time to try to do anything remotely close to this! So say a prayer for it! I still remember those wonderful times at Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house. Oh what joy! I miss them so much! Once they went to the nursing home we started having the dinner at my parent's house and I was still living there. Once Mike and I got married and moved to Alabama, just across the state line. The county we lived in before marriage and the county we live in now are actually neighboring ones, but in different states. It's only a 45 minute drive to either home. That's not too far,but with Mike's job it does make it difficult. The first year we didn't go over for Christmas, but went over the weekend before. Last year he was off both holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) so we made it both times. It does make it difficult, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I will miss my family and his this Thanksgiving, but we will see them Christmas.
I am such a blessed woman! I am so grateful for my Savior who continually interceedes on my behalf and who will one day come to take me froem this world. OH how I long for that day! Who else longs for the Savior's return? It really hit me Sunday during worship service, how much I long to see his face! I am so thankful for my husband,Mike. Oh words cannot describe how much I respect him, love him,and adore him. He is the one for me,no doubt! He is such a man of God and sometimes I tend to forget that. But God reminds me and shows me how much he works through Mike. I love him so much! I am also blessed because of the lil' bundle of joy,Daniel Paul. He is so amazing! He is so smart! He is so loving! He is just what I needed. I am SO glad God gave him to us and we had no idea he would come so soon! That only begins on my blessings. I have a wonfderful family, extended family,in-laws,and friends! I will miss them dearly this Thanksgiving, but they are in my heart. I could not really ask God for anything else. I could die a happy, joyful woman today or tomorrow and not ask for more. Some days I get frustrated at things in my life or in my day,but truly what do I have to complain about? Nothing. I have it all really. I have Jesus,Mike,Daniel, family, and friends. Not to mention a home, food, clothes, eyes, ears, all of my body parts,a vehicle, and much, much more. I take it foregranted so many times too. So take some time tomorrow or Thursday and just thank God for the small things we don't thank Him for every day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!
1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 100

It's too bad you won't get to see your family but at least you do have Christmas and good luck with your pie ;)
RYC: I'm sorry your "guys" are feeling under the weather. I hope and pray they feel better!
Thanks for stopping by my place earlier and your prayers are so much appreciated. Sounds like I can return the favor by praying for your fellas. Hope they will be well very soon. Don't be afraid to try new things - I bet before long you will be making those pies from scratch. When we got married 27 years ago I did not know how to cook anything - if it didn't come in a can or a box - we ate out!! but over the years I have tried different recipes and now I can make a homemade apple pie without even a recipe. It's a small accomplishment but one I am proud of. (ha ha)
We missed you AT THE WELL but understand that your guys needed you. Have a wonderful quiet Thanksgiving and can't wait to hear how that pie turned out!!
-Blessings, Laurie
You are right, there is so much to be thankful for. I'm not always good at remembering that but I need to be. I have everything I need and then some. God is good.
I hope Mike gets to feeling better and Daniel's cough goes away. That pie sounds great! If it turns out nicely you'll have to share the recipe. I've never made apple pie.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
I just wanted to say that when my children were young and they were sick, which caused me to have to miss something (like you not posting At The Well), I used to be furious about it. I hated missing those things. I was more interested in doing those things than in being a mother (you've read my story, so you know what I'm saying).
If I had it to do all over again, which I will when we adopt, I will recognize that ministering to the heart of my child (and my sick hubby too) is the most important thing I can do. Instead of lamenting that I am missing an activity, I will be thankful that I have a child and husband to care for.
Glad to see that you chose the important (keeping watch over your guys) over what your flesh wanted to do (blog At The Well).
Happy Thanksgiving I'm sure you will make a yummy pie.
Blessings,
Patti
Ryc: I actually just started a blog because I got tired of Bloop being down so often and it seemed like everyone moved here so I followed along! :-)
