Prisoner Alert

Update on Wang WeiliangPraise God!

On Nov.25, 2008, Pastor Wang Weiliang was released from prison on "medical" parole. He is now receiving care in a local hospital in Zhejiang Province, according to China Aid Association. VOM rejoices with the Weiliang family and thanks you for writing him letters of encouragement.Pastor Weiliang was strengthened by the prayers and help of believers like you. We encourage you to continue writing letters to believers who remain in prison. Forward this e-mail to those you know with a heart for God's people and encourage them to also write and pray. Get involved! Pray and write today.

On December 22, 2006, Pastor Wang Weiliang and seven other church leaders were sentenced from one year to three and one-half years in prison by the People‘s Court of Xiaoshan District, China. Four are in prison, four received suspended sentences. In prison, the men are forced to make clothing and shoes for export and prohibited from praying openly or reading the Bible. These leaders were arrested after thousands of PSB officers bulldozed their church building on July 29, 2006. Christians in China face numerous challenges, but the church is strengthened in the midst of persecution by believers like you. VOM is actively expanding help to underground Bible schools preparing leaders to spread the gospel in China. We invite you to write a letter of encouragement to Pastor Weiliang. The letters make a difference, often resulting in shorter prison terms. Please send a letter of encouragement and let Pastor Weiliang know you are praying for him and other believers in China. Also write to the Chinese government requesting Pastor Weiliang be released. Let your friends know about suffering Christians in China and encourage them to pray and write to Pastor Weiliang.Get involved! Pray and write to Pastor Weiliang today.

Be sure not to forget out persecuted brothers and sisters during the holidays. How sad it is for them to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas alone, in a prison cell. I cannot even imagine this. All for Christ's sake too. Wow. How spoilt am I? Writing the prisoners letters really encourages them and even has helped some be released early. If you can't write to them,at least pray for them. They need our prayers. Wouldn't you want the prayers of others if you were suffering as they are? Consider blogging twice a month for the persecution blog also,it's something at least.

You can write him here at this site PrisonerAlert.com.

Remember our persecuted brother and sisters

Nguyen Van Dai

I recieved an email from prisoneralert.com the other day,I'm just now getting around to posting it. Click on the link to read more about the site and "prisoner". I am burdened for the persecuted church and twice monthly I blog about them, maybe more. Below is about this man and where you can go to write him. It's so sad that Christians are done this way! We all should have the right to speak the name of Jesus without persecution. But in reality not all of us can. Jesus even tells us in scripture we will be hated for his name sake. I just wonder sometimes will that type of persecution come to America? Will it be through radical Islam? The hate-crime laws? or what? Anyone else ever wonder that? We all know our nation has not been going up hill, but down hill, which is very sad. Check out Voice of the Martyrs and prisoneralert. It will be well worth your time.

Dear Friends of the Persecuted Church ...

Nguyen Van Dai, a Vietnamese Protestant church leader and lawyer, was sentenced to five years in prison followed by four years of house arrest, in May 2008. We encourage you to write a letter of encouragement to Nguyen and let him know you are praying for him and other persecuted believers in Vietnam. Let your friends know about suffering Christians in Vietnam and encourage them to pray and write as well. Your letters make a difference, sometimes resulting in shorter prison sentences. Write to Nguyen Van Dai today and let him know you are praying for him.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

PASTOR BIKE HAS BEEN FREED!!!

This is late, but I still wanted to post.

Praise the Lord God Almighty who is worthy to save! And this HE did again :)
Here is the latest news regarding Pastor Bike and we want to thank all of you for signing our petition!!

We just received word from Pastor "Bike" that he has been released from Chinese custody. Pastor Bike was in good spirits and extended thanks to all those who prayed and were willing to sign the petition for his release. He believed this petition drive was part of the reason the officials released him along with his wife and co-worker.

We will still deliver a printed copy of all the signatures collected to the Chinese embassy next week, along with a THANK YOU LETTER to express appreciation for the release of our Christian brothers and sister. Continue to add your voice, and encourage your friends, so that we can let the Chinese government know how many Christians care about persecution in China.

We will have a full update next week.

Praise God for answered prayer!

Pastor Bike, as he is affectionately known, is considered to be one of the most outspoken evangelists in China. He is a bold believer willing to cross borders, hand out Christian literature and Bibles, share Christ with those under age 18 and lead thousands to Christ. All these actions are considered "illegal" in communist China.
On August 6, just two days before the Olympics began, Pastor Zhang "Bike" Mingxuan was arrested, along with his wife and a coworker.
In response to these arrests, The Voice of the Martyrs and China Aid Association have launched a petition drive to free these three Christians and to let the Chinese government know that the world is aware that these Christians are being detained.
Together, our voice can make a difference. Please follow the link below to learn more, and please forward this email to your friends.

Jailed 'cause of Olympic Prayer band.

Pastor Zhang “Bike” Mingxuan, known for traveling across China on a bicycle to evangelize, was arrested by Chinese police just two days before the Olympics began. Pastor Bike was the inspiration for the recent partnership between The Voice of the Martyrs and China Aid Association to create the Olympic Prayer Band.
Learn More about the Olympic Prayer Band here
Pastor Asks for Prayer BandEarlier this year, Pastor Bike pleaded with VOM staff to ask Christians to pray for persecuted Christians in China during the Olympics. The pastor voluntarily preaches the gospel openly in China despite being persecuted. He has asked for his identity to be revealed to bring continued attention to the persecution of Christians in Communist China.
Thanks to Pastor Bike’s inspiration and the commitment of concerned Christians across the United States, more than 800,000 prayer bands have been circulated. On Aug. 6, Pastor Bike was arrested while trying to deliver medicine to his ailing wife. His wife and another pastor were also arrested. We have also learned this week that Chinese officials are opening a full investigation of the Olympic Prayer Bands that were distributed to house church members within China. Despite this increased pressure from Chinese authorities, Chinese Christians continue to ask for prayer and to make their plight known.
Order your Prayer Bands today! As the Olympics goes on, the harassment of Chinese evangelists continues to increase. Please help remind others to pray for persecuted Christians like Pastor Bike by ordering your prayer bands today!
More about Pastor BikePastor Bike, president of the Chinese House Church Alliance, rode his bike more than 10,000 miles, visiting 24 Chinese provinces to introduce nonbelievers to Jesus Christ. Armed with a Bible and his business card, which declared “Believe in Jesus, Earn Eternal Life,” Pastor Bike brought the gospel to thousands of people. He and other Chinese evangelists have been repeatedly harassed by Chinese officials during this Olympic year. Please pray for the release of Pastor Bike and his wife.

Prison Letters

Location: China
Arrested: April 2001
Days Imprisoned:2692

Journalist Li Ying is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for her role in the publication of an underground church magazine in China. She was arrested April 2001 along with 16 others from the South China Church and condemned to death December 2001. Her current sentence was handed down during a retrial ordered by the Hubei Provincial Supreme Court in October 2002. Arrest and imprisonment are not new to this young woman in her early thirties. She has been arrested many times and spent a year in prison in 1996. Li Ying is the niece of Pastor Gong Shengliang, founder of the South China Church, one of the fastest-growing house-church movements in China. Li Ying cannot have a Bible and is forced to work 15 hours each day on materials to be exported out of China. Please pray for this young woman to remain faithful to our Lord. Please share this site with others. Read on to see how God uses the willing. This information was obtained from China Aid Association, a vital partner with VOM (http://www.chinaaid.org/).

Visits Halted
September 2005Li Ying was allowed to meet with her mother on a monthly basis. Recently these visits have been halted because she refuses to admit being a member of a cult.

I write letters to Christians put in prison for their faith. At first I was scared to do so. I thought what if the authorities find me somehow? How shameful of me! I decided to go on and write them anyhow. I found much joy from doing so. I even learned that they're prison sentence can be shortened by receiving letters from the outside world. So I encourage you to give it a try. I try to send atleast 5 off a month. The lady above is one of the many imprisoned for her faith. How sad a nation can't let it's people worship freely. I've written her twice! I had the joy to know that 2 of the Christians I wrote were freed not long after I wrote them, due to so many letters! Their website is http://www.prisoneralert.com/ . I encourage you to try to do some if you can.

So many Christians think they are in a whole different world. They are on the other side of the world, but they aren't much different from us. They are a part of us. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Think of it,as if you were the one in prison. Wouldn't you want someone to write you,to encourage you? They are only strong because of Christ and our encouragement. Go visit the VOM blog, http://www.persecutionblog.com/ . Get involved and be in prayer for the persecuted church. This verse comes to mind when I think of them.

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:35-36
