At the Well- Who Is God To You?

This is a new study the ladies At the Well have started. It's really great so far! I sat here doing it with one baby in my lap and a toddler behind me on the floor mimicking a dinosaur. Very interesting,to say the least. I want to do this study so bad and really understand God more,so bear with me! This is one day late, but I'm actually not behind on the study.

So first I'll introduce myself. I'm Heather and I live in South Alabama. I have been married for 3 years to my awesome husband. We have 2 little boys,Daniel Paul (2) and Michael Aaron (15 weeks). I love being a wife and a mother. It's two of the most rewarding and challenging callings in life, I believe. I stay at home with our 2 cute boys, while my husband works outside of the home providing for us. His job is also rewarding and very challenging. I love the Lord very much! He's been overly good to me and gracious to me. I am passionate about the woman's role as God intended it,about my marriage with my husband, about my children, about living as God desires us to live, and many other things. I pray to become closer to God through this study and see all the many different personalities of God.

Now, onto the discussion question: Who is God to you?

That's a pretty deep and thought provoking question. Hmm... God to me is a friend, someone I can always talk too. He is my Provider,of all my needs-no matter how big or small they are. God is my Comforter,no matter the situation that arises. Sometimes thinking how big God is can make you feel so small. He is SO much all in one being. There are days when I feel like God is not coming to rescue me in my struggles and a lot times He does not. I tend to think He should rescue me in all my struggles, but truthfully He won't and isn't supposed too. He showed me this morning as I was doing the study something that I hope will help me daily. If I always came to my children's aid and they never struggle a little bit, how strong would they be? How they ever know how to work it out themselves and with the help of God? They would never grow in themselves and in God. That's how God is with me. If He always came to my rescue right when I called, how would I ever grow in Him? How would I gain muscle through the struggle, if there was no struggle? We all have those days where we do feel God is not near us,but He is there. There's a song that I love, but can't seem to find it. It talks about God not being late, but right on time. It's a Southern Gospel song about Lazarus and the sisters thinking how could God wait until he was dead to come? God knows when to come to our aide. He is our Refuge in our time of trouble. I love Him and pray I can learn to love Him more!

I hope I can link this up right too! Let me know if I did, someone!

Thankful Thursday

It feels good to be back at Thankful Thursdays! Iris @ Grace Alone talks about daily blessings in today's post. What a great one too! Too often I don't look at my dialy blessings and complain instead. So here are some of my daily blessings.
  • The grace and mercy that God shows me every day, when I fail Him out of ignorance or my own doing.
  • My husband who goes to work and provides for us so great! He takes such good care of me.
  • Daniel, my 2 year old. He's a handful, but life wouldn't be the same without him. He's so full of life and comical. God has big plans for this little boy.
  • Aaron, my 14 week old. Babies, what's not to love about them? He's so happy, sweet, and smells good. I love when he smiles at me.
  • A warm shower. Ahh how relieving they are! I especially am thankful for them when I can get one for as long as I want without having to hurry out to check on the boys. That's rare,so I'm thankful for them!
  • Reading snippets of God's Word and having access to t.v./internet to hear awesome servants of the Lord expound on His Word.
I hope you can found some things to be thankful for,I know we all have some. You may not have everything you want, but God didn't promise that, He promised your need would be met. Have a blessed Thursday!

To Raise Them Up

I'm glad to be back At the Well and hopefully can contribute some to what the wonderful host ladies have to share with us! Today is about our children and Amy has a wonderful post about our children reflecting us.

Daniel is 2 now and he's so full of life! He very much picks up on more than half of what I do. If I'm brushing my teeth,he grabs his toothbrush and pretends to brush his. If I'm putting on shoes,he runs and gets his in an attempt to put his on. If I raise my voice at him, he usually raises his back in an attempt to tell me why he is doing what he is doing. It's amazing really how we have such an opportunity to pour good, honorable things into our children at such a young age. We were at a concert when Daniel was just 13 months old and my SIL was raising her hands in worship while holding Daniel. I looked over at him and he was doing the same thing.

We,as Mothers, have such a big task on our hands to teach our children in the ways of the Lord. I pray I can put in my 2 boys at a young age the likeness of God. It says in Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Notice it says child. It is amazing what children to learn and hold onto their whole lives. When Daniel is not in the best mood, maybe I should check my mood and see what it is like. Stop by At the Well and check out the sharing of God's Word!

God Bless!

At Your Feet

I bought the new Casting Crown cd "Until The Whole World Hears" and it's amazing. This song really is amazing!

Here at Your feet, I lay my past down
My wanderings, all my mistakes down
And I am free

Here at Your feet, I lay this day down
Not in my strength, but in Yours I've found
All I need, You're all I need

Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
Oh, to dwell and never leave
Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
There is nowhere else for me
There is nowhere else for me

Here at Your feet, I lay my future down
All of my dreams, I give to You now
And I find peace, I find peace
Here at Your feet, I lay my life down
For You my King, You're all I want now
And my soul sings...

'Cause I am free (here at Your feet)
All I need (is at Your feet)
I find peace
We're at Your feet
We're at Your feet

And I am free (here at Your feet)
All I need (is at Your feet)
I find peace
We're at Your feet
We're at Your feet
We're at Your feet
We're at Your feet

Here at Your feet
I lay my life down

being open

I love being able to record Beth Moore on Wednesdays and watch her! She really is an awesome servant of the Lord! I've always loved hearing her and reading her books/studies. This past week she was talking about the confidence we have through Christ. I can't remember the scripture she used right off hand, but it was good. She talked about loosing confidence in yourself through Christ. She said it can happen for various reasons to anyone. I believe that is what is going on with me. I have no confidence in myself anymore. I don't know if that goes along with being Mommy all over again to a newborn or what? It's like I feel vulnerable,if that makes sense. Maybe it's my hormones or something adding to it. I just don't think I can do anything right. It's hard to describe, but I know that message was for me. Now, she said you have to demand it back. She talked about once when she lost confidence in herself and finally realized it. She said that she demanded it back in Jesus name and told the devil to leave her alone. Honestly, I know to do that, but I just feel weak and trampled.

It's time like this I wish I was back at Riverside and things were like they used to be,having friends around to support and encourage me. It's really hard to open up about this b/c I don't like to be a downer. I like to encourage, but I don't think I've done that in quiet some time. I used to say that was my gift, but it's not been used in quiet some time. My life overall is very happy and I'm very blessed, but it seems I have lost the joy I used to have. How do I get it back? I would say spend more time in prayer and alone with God. I would cut off my arm for that, but it seems like I can't get it. I love my children, but doing it partially alone is overbearing sometimes. Mike helps a lot, when he is home. His job is very demanding also. Among the nursing career,Law Enforcement has the 2nd highest divorce rate. It's very stressful and demanding. So when he has to go to work I let him sleep in and rest. He does the same for me when he can. So I am here a lot by myself with no family near to help. We don't live that far,but 45 minutes is far enough. I stay tired and sleepy just about every single day. Some days I'm so irritable b/c of it too. I hate it. I know it is hard for all parents, but I feel it is a little harder for us. Maybe I'm wrong or deceived? God is using Mike at his job,but I just wish sometimes he could use him elsewhere. We've talked about it numerous times too. I'm very proud of Mike and his job. He is courageous and a light to those around him on the job. Sometimes it's just hard to keep that in mind. I get bogged down and think about nothing but GOD please get us out of here. Out of the apartment, out of Mobile, out of Law Enforcement. I know life isn't easy and it's not supposed to be,I just need the attitude, confidence, and joy to bear it and deal with it.

I guess everyone gets to a point like this, more than once in their life. I'm drained. I'm exhausted. I'm just tired. Maybe it's a valley? I know in the valley there is water and green grass. I know I will make it through if I choose. I used to never understand the verses where Paul discussed being single and being able to devote more time to the Lord. I do understand it now,but I still would not trade being married and having children for it. I just have to realize serving my husband and children,is in itself serving God. Lord, HELP me to remember this and to know I am NOT failing You! I am serving You through my family! I really need to start back on my blog and get back to Thankful Thursdays and At the Well. Having positive things to read and get involved with would really help me I do believe. I would appreciate your prayers as I go through this season of life, that's what it is, a season. I'm not defeated, though I do feel defeated. God has the victory and this is a season. Seasons come and go,help me Lord to gain what YOU want me to from this season. Help my spiritual eyes to be opened to Your will and YOUR ways, not my own. Help me Lord, to realize You are over all my life and from YOU only comes from joy. Joy presses through circumstances, when happiness fades away. You are my joy, you are my strength! You have not forsaken me and you have not left me. You are wanting to carry through this. A soul only stays joyless on their own account. Help me to see all my blessings and to see I have to choose this day whom I will serve, You or myself. Help me to DIE to my flesh! Help me to rid myself of this nasty flesh that longs for MY ways and my time! It's all about You Jesus and all this is for you, for your glory and your fame. It's not about me Jesus, as if you should do things my way, You alone are God and I surrender to YOUR ways!!!
