On Nov.25, 2008, Pastor Wang Weiliang was released from prison on "medical" parole. He is now receiving care in a local hospital in Zhejiang Province, according to China Aid Association. On December 22, 2006, Pastor Wang Weiliang and seven other church leaders were sentenced from one year to three and one-half years in prison by the People‘s Court of Xiaoshan District, China. Four are in prison, four received suspended sentences. In prison, the men are forced to make clothing and shoes for export and prohibited from praying openly or reading the Bible. These leaders were arrested after thousands of PSB officers bulldozed their church building on July 29, 2006. Christians in China face numerous challenges, but the church is strengthened in the midst of persecution by believers like you. VOM is actively expanding help to underground Bible schools preparing leaders to spread the gospel in China. We invite you to write a letter of encouragement to Pastor Weiliang. The letters make a difference, often resulting in shorter prison terms. Please send a letter of encouragement and let Pastor Weiliang know you are praying for him and other believers in China. Be sure not to forget out persecuted brothers and sisters during the holidays. How sad it is for them to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas alone, in a prison cell. I cannot even imagine this. All for Christ's sake too. Wow. How spoilt am I? Writing the prisoners letters really encourages them and even has helped some be released early. If you can't write to them,at least pray for them. They need our prayers. Wouldn't you want the prayers of others if you were suffering as they are? Consider blogging twice a month for the persecution blog also,it's something at least.

Thanks for sharing! The state of the church in China is a mystery. They are persecuted terribly, yet their faith continues to grow. Truly an example for all of us to follow!
